Manure seminar focuses on liquid-solid separationPublished on 07/25/2005Separating manure from water is the topic of this year's Manure Science Review on Aug. 31 in Reynoldsburg. Liquid-solid separation reduces the volume of manure to be hauled and saves farmers time and money, according to Mary Wicks, coordinator of the Ohio State University's Ohio Composting and Manure Management program. "The (Manure Science Review) will provide information as to what types of systems exist, their effectiveness and costs, as well as potential drawbacks," she said. The program is mainly designed for OSU Extension, Soil and Water Conservation District, Natural Resources Conservation Service and Farm Service Agency personnel as well as certified crop advisors and producers interested in separation technology. The event will be held 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Ohio Department of Agriculture complex. Preregistration, due by Aug. 24, is $35 and includes lunch, coffee and doughnuts. Walk-in registration is $60 and does not guarantee lunch. For a registration form and program schedule, visit www.ofbf.org and click on Featured Links. | |
