Visit OFBF at FSR

Ohio Farm Bureau staff members as well as selected member benefit providers will be available at the OFBF building at Farm Science Review (FSR), Sept. 20 to 22.

Exhibits on government affairs issues, Our Ohio television show and the OFB Foundation truck for raffle will be offered, as well as a Nationwide Insurance exhibit. On Sept. 22, OFBF will announce the winner of this year’s Excellence in Crop Advising award. The organization also is a sponsor of the Conservation Farm Family Awards that will be presented Sept. 20.

The OFBF building is located at the corner of Friday Ave. and Beef St. The review is open 8 a.m to 5 p.m. on Sept. 20 and 21 and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 22. The event takes place at Ohio State University's 2,100-acre Molly Caren Agricultural Center located two miles north of London on U.S. Route 40.

Tickets are $5 in advance from most Ohio agribusinesses and all county offices of OSU Extension or are $8 at the gate. Children 5 and under are admitted free.

According to the FSR Web site, www.fsr.osu.edu, this year’s event offers hundreds of demonstration plots and several million dollars of machinery on site. OSU Central features demonstrations and displays from OSU colleges and departments. Other displays include farm safety, home safety, health information and Global Positioning Systems (GPS) hands-on demonstrations in the demonstration fields.

The Ohio State Horse Plowing Contest conducted by the Ohio Horse & Mule Group is Thursday, Sept. 22. Also, auto-guidance demonstrations will be offered. Three different types of guidance systems will be demonstrated including DGPS guidance, DGPS auto-guidance and RTK auto-guidance. Farmers will be able to see hands-on how these systems could operate on their farm. Demonstrations will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 20 and 21 and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 22.
