Our Ohio: Telling Agriculture’s Story

Hog Wild at Ohio State Fair
Jackson/Vinton County Farm Bureau’s hugely successful "Hog Wild" project is the inspiration for this year’s event at the Ohio State Fair. County Farm Bureaus have submitted hand-painted piggy banks, which depict food and agriculture in their respective counties and incorporate the logo of the "Our Ohio" brand being launched this summer. Each county’s pig will be prominently displayed at the state fair. Visitors to OFBF’s state fair exhibit "Land and Living: Agriculture …Your Link to Life" at the Nationwide Ag & Hort building will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite county piggy bank in the "People’s Choice Award". A judge from the Columbus College of Art and Design will select the "Best in Show" based on artistic merit. The winning counties will be revealed at the 2005 annual meeting in Columbus.

Our Ohio magazine
The September/October issue will feature articles on the quilt barns peppering the southeastern Ohio countryside; member benefits for small business owners such as Workers’ Compensation Group Rating and Farm Bureau Bank; 5-a-day month in September and tips for incorporating at least five fruits and vegetables into healthy diets; the Ag and the Arts symphony planned for Clark County; Adena’s historical gardens; and a look at how companies are incorporating consumer preferences into their food offerings and menus.
