Pioneer Region - Mahoning County Farm Bureau
"Operation PB&J" was the theme of a recent Mahoning Marketeers Farm Bureau Youth Council community project. The youth council donated 39 jars of peanut butter and 21 jars of jelly to The Way Station, which provides faith-based assistance to needy people in nearby Columbiana County. The center was in dire need of staple foods such as peanut butter to help hungry children and families during the summer. The youth council solicited county adult Farm Bureau councils for the food and made donations themselves, said Pearle Burlingame, Mahoning County's organization director. The food was donated July 12.
