Dates set for OFBF, AFBF annual meetings

OFBF

When: Nov. 30 to Dec. 2

Where: Hyatt Regency Hotel and Columbus Convention Center, Columbus

Speakers: Confirmed speakers include Bill Jenkins, president of Louisiana State University, and Julie Anna Potts, AFBF general counsel. OFBF President Bob Peterson and OFBF Executive Vice President Jack Fisher also will give their annual addresses. Additional seminar speakers will be announced as information is available.

Training: County program chairmen will receive training Nov. 30.

Activities: Hospitality corner/trade show, health fair, silent auction benefiting OFB Foundation, young farmer contests, parade of presidents.

AFBF

When: Jan. 8 to 11

Where: Nashville, Tenn. Music City USA

Speakers: Cal Ripken Jr., baseball’s all-time "Iron Man," is the keynote speaker. Ripken is most notably the record holder for consecutive games played. He voluntarily ended his streak in 1998 after playing 2,632 consecutive games. He is one of only seven players in history to slam 400 home runs and 3,000 hits. AFBF President Bob Stallman also will give his annual address.

Seminars: Presentation topics include development of the 2007 Farm Bill, market access and international trade, current environmental issues. In addition, the Farm Bureau study team "Making American Agriculture Productive and Profitable" (MAAPP) will give its final presentation, addressing its vision of how agriculture should look in 2019.

Registration: OFBF delegates and guests will stay at the Radisson Hotel Opryland within walking distance, or a shuttle trip, to Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center.
