Darrell Rubel joined the OFBF staff in 1997 as director of young leaders. He accepted responsibility for the safety program in 2003. He is responsible for the OFBF youth program, coordinating all statewide and regional youth conferences and events as well as conducting leadership training for youth advisers and the State Youth Committee. He also works closely with county volunteers and staff to promote safety education programs and with American Farm Bureau's Agricultural Safety Awareness Program. He was raised on a sheep farm in Belmont County and was active in 4-H, FFA and Farm Bureau Youth and was a former member of the State Youth Committee and summer assistant for the youth program. He has a bachelor's degree in telecommunications from Ohio University and a master's degree in agricultural education from Ohio State University. He resides in Franklin County and is a member of Mosaic church. "Simply put, Farm Bureau is about good people doing good things. It's encouraging to work with the teens and junior highs to see them learn about our organization while they grow in their leadership skills, confidence and teamwork while learning that they can (and do) make a difference in the world around them. I'm very proud to see their zest for life and hope for the future and the difference that adults make in working with them," he said. | |
