More than 600 eat homemade ice cream at Farm City Day

Dairy was the theme of this year's Farm City Day at Muskingum County Fairgrounds.

The Sept. 10 event, co-sponsored by the Muskingum County Farm Bureau, featured the COSI on Wheels display, a petting zoo, the Zanesville Farmer's Market, Hatfield Dairy's Web site, www.mooschool.com, and tours to a local dairy farm and pizzeria.

The county Farm Bureau served free homemade ice cream made by Jim and Jackie Fink of Perry County. The couple made the dessert in their ice cream maker, which was powered by a John Deere motor. They made 20 gallons of ice cream and served at least 600 people.

More than 1,000 people attended the event, which also was sponsored by the local chamber of commerce, Muskingum Soil & Water Conservation District, Guernsey Muskingum Electric, Muskingum County Extension and the local FSA office, said Tiffany Pattison, organization director for Morgan, Muskingum, Perry and Washington counties.
