OFB Foundation grant proposals being accepted

Published on 10/10/2005

Grant funds for fiscal year 2006 are now available from the Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation.

"The foundation’s Agricultural Action and Awareness Grants focus on funding needs for smaller, community-based groups that often find the larger-scale, public and private grant solicitation process daunting," said Jack Fisher, foundation president and OFBF executive vice president.

Independent producers, agricultural producer groups and community service groups in rural, suburban or urban settings eligible for nonprofit status from the IRS are eligible to submit a proposal to continue or complete a program highlighting agriculture and its impact on the community in one of the following focus areas:

  • Economics, community development and/or agribusiness development

  • Education, public awareness and/or community outreach.

  • Environmental issues involving agriculture and its impact on the respective community.

Grant awards range from a minimum of $500 to a maximum of $2,500. Matching funds and/or resources detailing the value of volunteer commitment and activity are required.

Planning ahead is the key to success – the proposal deadline and requirements will be followed. Members of the foundation board of directors and select community leaders will serve on the grant selection committee. All grants will be awarded in January 2006.

Grant applications are available at the foundation’s Web site, http://www.ofbfoundation.org. A hard copy of the application can be obtained by contacting the foundation at P.O. Box 182383, Columbus, OH 43218-2383. Grant applications are due by 4 p.m. Dec. 1.
