Denise Percival has been a Greene County board member since 1993, with only a short respite after serving consecutive terms and reaching term limits. Currently she is county Farm Bureau president. She has been membership chairman for seven campaigns, board secretary, promotion and education chairman and involved in several other committees. While promotion and education chairman, she established an agriculture teacher recognition program and an agriculture education book program in the county's elementary schools. In addition, she and her husband, Jim, have hosted a county farm tour stop several times so urban and suburban residents could visit the farm and be exposed to Ohio agriculture at the most personal level. The Percivals operate a small farm operation of registered shropshire breeding sheep, feeder calves, hay and straw. She has an associate degree in business management from Clark State Community College, a bachelors degree in organizational management from Wilberforce University and works off the farm full-time as nursing home administrator for Greenewood Manor. They have two children. "Ohio Farm Bureau is the strongest voice representing agriculture in the state of Ohio," she said. She would like Farm Bureau to remain strong for future generations. "We need to advocate today for what we want tomorrow. We need to allocate and reserve resources today, so we have supply for tomorrow. We need our voice heard today, so it echoes for tomorrow," she said. | |
