Ohio Farm Bureau announces young farmer finalists

The following young farmers will be competing for their respective state titles at the OFBF annual meeting Nov. 30 to Dec. 2 in Columbus. State winners will represent Ohio at the AFBF annual convention in Nashville, Tenn. Jan. 8 to 11.

Excellence in Agriculture
The Excellence in Agriculture Award recognizes young farmers who do not derive the majority of their income from an owned agricultural operation. However, they are actively contributing and growing through their involvement in Farm Bureau and agriculture. Semifinalists will give a power point presentation at the state finals judging.

This year’s finalists are Kimberly Badtke, Fulton County; Andrea Myers, Mahoning County; John Buck, Marion County, and Shane and Melody Meldick, Jackson County.

Outstanding Young Farmer
The Outstanding Young Farmer contestants are judged on farming operation, leadership and organization involvement. The semifinalists will undergo a personal interview at the state finals judging.

This year’s finalists are Ty and Robyn Callicoat, Clark County; Christopher Weaver, Williams County; Matt Bell, Muskingum County, and Jeff and Dena Wuebker, Darke County.
