As a 25-year member of Farm Bureau, Glenn Smith has had the opportunity to be involved at many levels with the organization. His first volunteer activity was as a membership worker, which he continues today. Hes served on the Trumbull County board of trustees and county audit and budget committees as government affairs chairman and membership chairman and currently serves as county president. Last year, he was a member of the state policy development committee. He and his wife, Sandee, are semi-retired from farming. They own 42 acres and raise hay, oats and corn. They are the parents of four children, have 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. They are active with West Mecca United Methodist Church where Glenn is a trustee chairman and a laity member. He is a Trumbull County Master Gardener and was named Outstanding Master Gardener last year. Smith said he was born and raised on a dairy farm in Trumbull County and believes in agriculture and Farm Bureau. "When I talk to someone about membership, I remind them were (farmers) a shrinking group less than 2 percent of the population," he said. "United we stand a chance to have a voice in local, state and national issues." | |
