New farm radio network debuts

Published on 11/21/2005

The Buckeye Ag Radio Network – the BARN – is a new farm radio network being launched in Ohio. Andy Vance and Lindsay Hill, owners and operators of the venture, say their goal is to serve farmers and rural listeners by providing the most complete agricultural news coverage available. Vance and Hill recently left WRFD Radio, Columbus, when the station ended its traditional hour-long midday farm show.

The BARN will provide local, state and national farm news, markets and analysis and weather reports. The network went live on Nov. 14 with three affiliates. Vance expects to have at least 10 stations carrying BARN programming by the first of the year. Ohio Farm Bureau will air a weekly three-minute program, Farm Bureau This Week, each Wednesday on the BARN.
