Silent auction raises $11,000 for foundation

Published on 12/19/2005

The first ever Ohio Farm Bureau Rural-Urban Community Auction grossed $11,000 to support OFB Foundation programs and activities. The foundation will begin awarding grants later this month.

More than 60 items were up for bid, including weekend getaway packages, Ohio State University memorabilia and baskets featuring unique items from Ohio counties. Bidding was initiated at a live, online auction. Meeting participants, such as Kim Dedrich of Sandusky County, had ample opportunity to browse auction items before bidding concluded at the annual meeting. OFB Foundation Director Dale Arnold said 199 unique bidders participated in the auction. Ohio Farm Bureau, Nationwide and Our Ohio sponsored the auction.

OFBF also hosted a hospitality area and trade show during the annual meeting. Health care providers were on hand to offer flu shots, massages and blood pressure screening. Participating organizations included the Ohio Association of Second Harvest Food Banks, Ohio Division of Wildlife and American Dairy Association/Dairy Council Mid-East as well as several OFBF member benefit providers.

Another special feature of the day was an online scavenger hunt of the OFBF Web site, www.ofbf.org . Everyone who completed the hunt was entered in a drawing for a $100 gas card, which Bob Hendershot of Guernsey County won.
