Adams appointed to FSA position in Washington, D.C.

Larry Adams, state executive director for Ohio’s Farm Service Agency, has a new office – one in Washington.

In January, Adams was appointed assistant deputy administrator for farm programs with the U.S. Department of Agriculture FSA. David Drake, farm loan chief for the Ohio FSA office, has been named acting state executive director.

In his new FSA position, Adams assists the deputy administrator for farm programs in the operations and management of the office. FSA's farm programs office administers price support, conservation and environmental and disaster assistance programs.

Adams had been state executive director for FSA in Ohio since June 2001. From 1991 to 2001, he was the assistant director for the Ohio Department of Agriculture and helped develop statewide agriculture policies, including farmland preservation. Adams was elected in 1986 to the Ohio House of Representatives for the 86 th House District for two terms. While in the House, he served on various committees including Agriculture and Natural Resources, Economic Affairs and Federal Relations, Children and Youth and Economic Development. Adams also held various positions in the accounting office of the Whirlpool Corp. in Ohio while working there for 18 years. He attended Ohio State University and Marion Technical College.

Adams grew up on a 500-acre farm in Marion County where the family raised diversified crops. He has been a private pilot for the past 35 years and is a second-generation aviator. He is married to Carol Ritz and has two children, Steven and Stephanie, and three grandchildren.
