Fifth annual Foundation golf outing this JunePublished on 04/17/2006The 2006 Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation Invitational Golf Outing will be held June 12 at the Country Club at Muirfield Village in Dublin. The 18-hole championship course was designed by Jack Nicklaus. Now in its fifth year, the outing raises funds for the OFB Foundation as well as honors a person who has been a friend of Ohio agriculture. This year’s honoree is Dr. Linda Saif, distinguished university professor at Ohio State University. She is known nationally and internationally for her work on enteric animal diseases – those relating to the digestive system, and specifically the intestines – mainly rotavirus and calicivirus. Certain strains of the viruses can cause gastrointestinal illnesses in humans, especially children. She also is an authority on coronavirus, the pathogen suspected of causing Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, or SARS. To participate in the event, fees for the day are $300 per individual or $1,100 per foursome. Fees include continental breakfast, lunch and dinner, gifts, photos and green and cart fees. For the second year, Wally Armstrong, PGA professional, author and motivational speaker, will conduct a special golf clinic. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. Visit the Foundation Web site, www.ofbfoundation.org for more information. Registration is due by May 1. Proceeds from the Foundation Open will be used in the following areas:
