Nationwide is the No. 1 insurer of farms in the United States and Ohio, according to A.M. Best, a leading industry research firm. Founded by Ohio Farm Bureau some 80 years ago, Nationwide is sponsored and endorsed by OFBF and five other state Farm Bureaus, representing nearly 400,000 families. "Farm coverage is a highly specialized line of insurance," said Jerry Hillard, Nationwide Agribusiness farm sales officer. "Only agents specially trained to focus on this unique type of business provide our farm customers with important advice and counsel." That special training has served Nationwide to the benefit of its customers, making it the leading farm insurer in the country. There are more than 1,200 Nationwide agents throughout the United States who write farm business. Ohio is home to about 400 Nationwide farm agents including 72 who are designated as FAST agents, a part of Nationwide’s Farm Agent Sales Team. Nationwide agent Allen Douce was Nationwide’s leading writer of new farm insurance sales in Ohio during 2005. Douce, an associate agent with the Thomas R. Milligan Nationwide Insurance Agency in Marion, was recognized at Nationwide’s FAST Track Conference. The conference was held to recognize Nationwide’s Farm Agent Sales Team, which produces many new Farm Bureau memberships along with new farm business. As the sponsored insurance provider for the Ohio Farm Bureau, Nationwide provides eligible Farm Bureau members with special rates on farm insurance and other products and services.
