Published on 05/15/2006

Ohio Farm Bureau is sponsoring a teacher and volunteer education workshop June 29 at COSI in Columbus. "Let’s Get Growing: Exploring the Science and Culture of Agriculture" will provide professionally developed teacher resources that are aligned to Ohio academic standards. The workshop is open to teachers in grades K through 12 and Farm Bureau volunteers interested in agricultural literacy. Registration is limited to the first 150 participants.

The workshop will feature sessions on topics such as the "Growing a Nation" interactive CD-ROM, the new edition of "Lessons in Economics", classroom gardening, after-school 4-H programs and the "Agriculture Adventures" COSI on Wheels program.

A special workshop for volunteers will be offered on "The Quilt Project," a unique handmade art object and accompanying educational kit that will help students explore agriculture and an important worldwide issue -- hunger.

All participants will receive a complimentary Our Ohio television show DVD that contains educational segments and related classroom activities from the show’s premiere season.

Cost is $20 and includes lunch. Registration and a complete description of the workshop sessions are available online at www.OurOhio.org. Click on For Teachers and Parents.
