Camp-in registration available

Published on 05/15/2006

Farm Bureau members are invited to attend this year’s Camp-in, July 20 through 23 in Delaware County. In addition to camping and the traditional bus tour, this year’s event will include an Our Ohio Summerfest event with games, activities and food.

All Delaware County Farm Bureau members, both active and associate, are invited to spend a few hours with the Camp-in participants and learn about Our Ohio and Ohio Farm Bureau.

Camp-in costs are $15 per campsite, per night and $15 per bus seat for the bus tour July 21. Our Ohio Summerfest is free to Delaware County Farm Bureau members. Contact Cindi Good at 614-246-8241 or e-mail cgood@ofbf.org for registration information.

This year’s Bus Tour sites:

  • Price Barnes Organics - A disposal facility for yard waste using composting technology. The company is licensed by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency as a Class II composting facility. Price Barnes accepts organic materials for compost as an alternative to burning or landfills.
  • USDA Forest Service, Northeastern Research Station - The laboratory’s facilities were instrumental in the development of disease resistant Elm trees as well as research on varieties resistant to the Emerald Ash Borer.
  • Cackler Family Farm - The farm raises Christmas trees and pumpkins. The farm uses irrigation on the pumpkins and has cultivated good customer relationship practices.
  • Riverwood Farms - Located in an urban area, the farm is a state-of-the-art facility that raises Dorper sheep. Dorper sheep originated in South Africa and are known for quality mutton.
