Fifth-and sixth-graders got acquainted with agriculture at a Cows and Plows event at the Van Wert County Fairgrounds April 25 and 27. The Van Wert Soil and Water Conservation District, along with the Van Wert County Farm Bureau, OSU Extension and others, helped host the event. Presenters included grain and specialty crop farmers, livestock producers and people from farm-related businesses. The presentations were designed for students who may or may not live on farms; many don’t have the opportunity to experience modern-day farming. School children from Crestview Local Schools, Lincolnview Local Schools and Van Wert City Schools attended the event. | |
