Nominations accepted for crop advising awardPublished on 07/03/2006OFBF and the Ohio Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) Program are accepting nominations for the Excellence in Crop Advising Award. The award recognizes CCAs who have performed superior services for farmers in nutrient management, soil and water management, integrated pest management and crop production. The purpose of the award is to increase awareness that farmers and their service people strive to do their best in making economically and environmentally sound cropping decisions. A CCA must meet standards set by the American Society of Agronomy and maintain certification through continuing education. With increasing farm size, complexity and management options and increasingly complex regulations, OFBF foresees farmers relying more on CCAs of which there are more than 600 in Ohio. Ohio's winner will receive a plaque, recognition in publications and a cash award of $500. The award will be presented to the CCA state winner at the Farm Science Review in London, Ohio in September. In order to qualify for the award, at least one of the nominators must be a Farm Bureau member. The deadline to submit nominations is July 17. Nomination forms can be obtained by visiting the calendar section of www.ofbf.org or by calling 614-246-8262. | |
