The Lawrence County Fairgrounds recently played host to the first Safety Adventures Day. The Lawrence County Farm Bureau in cooperation with the Lawrence County Soil and Water District sponsored the May 20 event. "Our goal was to make people more aware of the safety dangers in their everyday lives," said Emerson Wiseman, safety chair of Lawrence County Farm Bureau. The event focused on safety on the farm, in the home and in everyday life. Representatives from John Deere, Operation Lifesaver, local health departments and local fire and EMS squads talked about topics from farm operation to bike safety. Symmes Valley FFA, the Wayne National Forest Firewise program, the Wild Turkey Federation, the Ohio Highway Patrol and OSU Extension were among some of the other presenters at the event.
