Karen Locke
Coshocton County

Karen Locke has served on the Coshocton County Farm Bureau board, has been safety chairman, coordinated numerous ATV safety events, served as OFBF annual meeting delegate and currently serves as government affairs chairman. For over a decade, the county Farm Bureau has hosted an Ag Day event for local 4th graders, and Locke has hosted the sheep stop every year. As a membership worker, she has earned the Ambassador Club honor numerous times. "I enjoy and believe in (Farm Bureau)," she said. She also makes an effort to train new workers, doing mock membership interviews with them.

She is active in Nelly Chapel United Methodist Church and has been a delegate to the church’s Eastern Ohio Conference. She was a 4-H adviser for more than 30 years and now serves as a 4-H key leader for sheep, bicycle and ATV safety and as a project judge. She is a member of the Ohio Sheep Improvement Association and a long-time member of the Walhonding Rube Band.

Karen and her husband, Leon, are parents of four children and have five grandchildren; the grandchildren are the fifth generation raising sheep at the 500-acre farm. The Lockes also raise registered Hereford cattle.

"I’m very lucky that my parents thought Farm Bureau was something to be a part of. We’re so lucky to have an organization that cares about farms, livestock and families," and a variety of other issues, she said.
