Butts wins CCA award

Published on 10/23/2006

When a producer gets advice from a Certified Crop Adviser (CCA), that producer can be sure he is getting sound information on a variety of topics.

OFBF's Excellence in Crop Advising Award recognizes an individual who has performed superior service for farmer clients in nutrient management, soil and water management, integrated pest management and crop production. Roger Butts, owner/agronomist for Agro-Serve Consulting in Hillsboro, is this year’s winner.

He develops nutrient management plans, pest management plans and gives fertilizer recommendations, which result in clients meeting all Natural Resources Conversation Service (NRCS) specifications and receiving NRCS approval.

Several clients, including Neil Rhonemus of Lynchburg nominated Butts for the award.

"Roger believes in good stewardship applying fertilizer, chemicals and manure in a good way to profit and protect our natural resources," Rhonemus said.

OFBF and Certified Crop Advisors co-sponsor the award, and Butts has received a check from Pioneer, a Dupont Company, for $500.
