The second annual Ag Fest for Fulton County fourth graders taught students lessons about worms, hog production, soils and more on Oct. 3 and 4 at the Fulton County Fairgrounds. All 576 students were given the opportunity to attend several sessions at the daylong event. Several volunteers, including all three Fulton County commissioners prepared and served lunch. Each child received a T-shirt donated by various businesses; gift certificates also were given to volunteers who worked for two days. Each participating school received the "Lessons in Economics" kit from OFBF. Students also learned about bees, trees, buffalo, farm machinery, historical farming, making rope and making apple cider. Fulton Soil and Water Education Specialist Amanda Podach developed the program. Caption: Fourth grade students take part in a session on worms. Photo courtesy Fulton County Farm Bureau | |
