Volunteer
Al Miller
Washington County

Al Miller has been active in Farm Bureau ever since he joined the organization 20 years ago. Currently he is the county agricultural ecology chairman, but he also has served as county president, safety coordinator and served as a county board member for six years. He also is a 15-year veteran working with the county on its membership campaigns and was a participant in the Nationwide National Policyholder Conference. Locally he serves on the Washington County farmland preservation committee and is a member of the Ohio Cattlemen’s Association.

"To me it’s impressive, the relationship between agriculture/farmers and Farm Bureau, that are able to work together and have such a strong organization. OFBF staff and the volunteers are able to work together and form such a great organization … If you didn’t have the staff and all the volunteers, you know, it just wouldn’t be what it is. To be able to have volunteers do what they do, it tells you…how concerned people are about agriculture. (It) is a great voice for agriculture."

Miller and his wife, Jean, are the parents of two children and have one grandchild. They have a Gelbvieh cow-calf operation and raise hay. He works off the farm as a supervisor at Skuttle Manufacturing. The Millers attend Christ United Methodist Church in Marietta.
