Volunteer
Troy Ernest
Allen County

An OFBF Young Farmer Trip to Washington, D.C. five years ago piqued Troy Ernest’s interest in Farm Bureau and he has been involved ever since, now serving his first term as Allen County Farm Bureau president. A 10-year member, he also has served as government affairs chairman and is a four-year board member.

He and his father operate a 1,200 sow farrow through feeder pig operation, and they raise corn, soybeans, wheat and hay. Ernest manages the hog operation and is the third generation on the farm. He also is president of the Allen County Pork Producers and a graduate of Ohio State University.

He and his wife, Traci, a nurse at St. Rita’s, have two daughters, Dori and Remi, and a few horses.

"I’m involved (in Farm Bureau) because of the political involvement, lobbying and communicating with legislators, which is important to Farm Bureau members. When I went on the Young Farmer Trip, it sparked the interest there and I’ve been at it ever since," he said.
