Volunteer
Lucille Huston, Columbiana County

Lucille Huston is a familiar face of Farm Bureau. She and her husband, John, operated a dairy farm and became members in Trumbull County in 1950, where she served on the board before they moved to Columbiana County in the early 1960s. Throughout her Farm Bureau career, she has served as county board secretary and president and has been a delegate to the OFBF annual meeting numerous times. She also has been county information coordinator and membership chairman the past two years. She helps with special events such as Food Check Out Day, Ag Week and helped organize classes for members in remedial driver's education for seniors. She’s a repeat member of the Ambassador Club, once signing 41 new members.

Currently she is a reporter and photographer for The Review of East Liverpool. She serves on the county Extension Advisory Committee and the Advisory Committee of the Kyes Home operated by Children's Services for abused and neglected girls. Previously she was active in Business and Professional Women, serving at the county, regional and state level. She is a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church of Wellsville.

Her husband died in 2002; the Hustons were married 52 years. They are the parents of Judy, James, Kathy and Joe. She has 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. One grandson, Mark, is serving with the U.S. Army in Iraq, on his second tour of duty. She enjoys gardening and raises a few garden items. She also enjoys needlearts, especially quilting.

"I, like many others, probably first joined because I had, at the time, Farm Bureau insurance. However, because of telephone problems back in 1961, and Ohio Farm Bureau and Morry Allton coming to Trumbull County and fighting for us, I have always been a strong supporter of the organization. Through the years, I have seen that support on the county and state level that I don't see in other organizations," she said.
