The American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture has funded four mini-grants for county Farm Bureaus in Ohio. Mini grants are offered to county Farm Bureaus in amounts up to $500 for classroom education programs for grades K-12 to initiate new programs or expand existing programs to additional grade levels or new subject areas.

Grants were awarded to the following counties:

  • Brown: The "Soil Foundations" program will purchase materials to create a more dynamic approach to teach about soils, with a focus on soil as the foundation for agriculture.
  • Mercer: Books and DVDs will be purchased for seven public libraries with Farm Bureau volunteers and Soil and Water Conservation District staff serving as guest readers.
  • Pike: The grant will fund teacher packets, which are a part of Agricultural Awareness Day.
  • Scioto: The grant will fund teacher packets, classroom packets and the OFBF Book of the Year for three schools as part of Agricultural Awareness Day.
