Toland named communications specialist

Dan Toland has been named a communications specialist for Ohio Farm Bureau. The Hilliard resident will report and write news and feature articles for OFBF’s Buckeye Farm News newspaper, Our Ohio magazine and Web site, www.ofbf.org. He will assist with photography for OFBF’s publications and Web sites. He also will report and write for OFBF video projects and assist with the production of radio programming.

Toland was a freelance writer for The Puller, a monthly magazine of the National Tractor Pullers Association. He also was an intern/correspondent for Farm World, a weekly Midwestern newspaper, and editor of AgriNaturalist, Ohio State University’s College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences magazine. In 2003 he received a first place award from the Society of Professional Journalists for general news reporting. He has a bachelor’s degree in agricultural communications from OSU.

Toland grew up beside his grandfather’s large grain and livestock farm in Wyandot County. He is a graduate of Mohawk High School and was president of the high school’s FFA and a member of 4-H.
