Certified Crop Adviser nominees wantedPublished on 06/14/2007Ohio Farm Bureau Federation and the American Society of Agronomy’s (ASA) Ohio CCA program are currently accepting nominees for the jointly sponsored Excellence in Crop Advising Award. The award is presented to a Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) in Ohio who has maintained superior service for farmer clients in nutrient management, soil and water management, integrated pest management and crop production. The state winner, to be announced at the 2007 Farm Science Review in London, Ohio, will receive a plaque, recognition in industry publications and a $500 cash award. Each nominee will also be recognized with a certificate to be presented by the corresponding county Farm Bureau. Currently, more than 600 Certified Crop Advisers throughout Ohio are working together with farmers, making economically and environmentally sound practices a continued priority when it comes to farm management. Each CCA must maintain certification through continuing education and follow a code of ethics pledging to work in the best interest of their clients. County Farm Bureaus, OSU Extension offices and county Soil and Water Conservation Districts have the opportunity to recognize an outstanding CCA through nomination for the award. A nominated CCA should be in good standing and must be nominated by at least one Farm Bureau member or County Farm Bureau with firsthand knowledge of the CCA’s work. Nominees may be submitted to OFBF no later than July 16. Send nominations to Amy Hurst, OFBF, 280 N. High St., P.O. Box 182383 Columbus, OH 43218-2383. Questions should be directed to Hurst at 614-246-8262. | |
