Volunteer
Sally Bluck, Ross County

Sally Bluck met her husband, Jim, at Ohio State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture. His roots are in agriculture; however, she didn't grow up on a farm. He soon convinced her to give farming a try and 28 years later, she said she is still embracing the life of a farm wife. The Blucks live on a cash grain farm where they raise corn, soybeans and seed beans. "I particularly enjoy the harvest season because I operate the combine," she said. They have three children and one grandchild.

The Blucks had been Farm Bureau members for several years when Sally approached the organization director and asked how she could become directly involved. He replied "That's what I like to hear!" and got her started right away with Ag in the Classroom and in an advisory council. She also has participated in the membership campaign, as chairman of the county annual meeting and women’s committee, and served on the promotion and education committee and the scholarship committee. She also has been a delegate to the OFBF annual meeting.

In addition to farming, she is a program assistant for OSU Extension-Ross County. She is an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church where she teaches Sunday School and serves on Church Council and Fellowship Committee.

"Farm Bureau is the best tool to have the concerns of farmers voiced at local, state and national levels," she said.
