Schumm re-elected trustee of Ohio Farm Bureau FederationPublished on 11/30/2007 For Immediate Release COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) – Mike Schumm of Willshire was re-elected to his second full term as a state trustee of Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) during the organization’s annual meeting Nov. 28 to 30 in Columbus. Originally elected in March 2004 to fill an unexpired term, Schumm represents Farm Bureau members in District 5, which consists of Allen, Paulding, Putnam and Van Wert counties. He is a 27-year member of the Van Wert County Farm Bureau and has served as county president, membership chairman and government affairs committee chairman. At the state level, he has served on the Ohio Farm Bureau Envisioned Future committee and sat on OFBF’s line fence law task force. Schumm has been active with the Zion Lutheran Church and 4-H. Schumm farms with his father, Frederick, and two brothers, Marlin and Maurice. Their diversified operation produces corn, soybeans, wheat and hay and includes hogs, beef cattle, a dairy and laying hens. He and his wife, Robin, are the parents of three sons. Ohio Farm Bureau Federation is the state’s largest farm organization. First organized in 1919, its current membership stands at more than 230,000 including more than 60,000 farmer members. The organization is influential in public policy and public relations, working as an advocate for Ohio’s farm families, as well as providing various other member benefit services.
