Porteus re-elected First Vice President of Ohio Farm Bureau

COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) – Brent Porteus of Coshocton has been re-elected first vice president of the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF). This is the second highest elected office in the state’s largest general farm organization.

He originally became first vice president in a special election in April, 2007. He previously served as treasurer. Porteus also is trustee for OFBF District 12, representing members from Coshocton, Holmes, Knox and Licking counties.

Porteus and his wife, Debbie, are the parents of two children. He farms with his father, brother and daughters producing crops and beef cattle. He is a 33-year member of Farm Bureau. He graduated from Ohio State University where he majored in agricultural economics. He is a past president of the Ohio Corn Growers Association and past chairman of the Ohio Corn Marketing Program. Additionally, he is involved with the River View School Board, 4-H and the Presbyterian Church of Coshocton.

Porteus’ election came during the 89th annual meeting of OFBF, held recently in Columbus. Ohio Farm Bureau is the state’s largest general farm organization; it represents agricultural and consumer interests in the public policy and public relations arenas and provides a comprehensive group of member benefits.
