Help Ensure Final Passage of Livestock Care Standards Board

Published Jun. 29, 2009

Ohio Farm Bureau members should call or e-mail their State Representative and State Senator to urge final passage of a critical livestock care measure (even if you already called or e-mailed the week of June 22nd-26th).

We appreciate the overwhelming support that Ohio General Assembly members gave to supprting HJR2 and HJR6.  Because of the strong show of support from Ohioans, both the House and Senate passed versions of the resolution to put the issue before Ohians on the November 2009 ballot.  This was a strong preliminary victory, but we are not done yet.

Between now and early next week (June 29-July 3, 2009), Ohio lawmakers will be meeting to finalize which version (House or Senate) of the ballot proposal will move forward.  Things are very busy around the statehouse right now, as legislators are also meeting to finalize the state budget proposal.

We are asking Farm Bureau members, your families, your friends, and your neighbors to please take this opportunity to call or e-mail your legislators to ask that they continue to recognize the importance of Agriculture to Ohio's economy and Ohio's voters by ensuring that you have the opportunity to vote on the Animal Care Standards Board this November.

You can send an e-mail or make a call through our easy to use on-line Legislative Action Center.
