COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) – Consumers want safe, affordable meat, while activists seek a meat-free society. How farmers can meet consumer demand in the face of an anti-meat agenda is this week’s topic on Town Hall Ohio.
Social responsibility in meat production and consumption will be discussed by Matt Sutton-Vermeulen of the Center for Food Integrity and Candace Croney of Ohio State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. They also will talk about how activists impact public perception about the livestock industry. Other guests include Ohio Farm Bureau President Brent Porteus and Ohio Livestock Coalition President Scott Higgins.
Sutton-Vermeulen and Croney were speakers at the 2009 annual meeting of the Ohio Livestock Coalition.
Town Hall Ohio is an award-winning weekly public policy discussion forum, and is produced by the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation with the financial support of Nationwide Insurance. The program airs on the following stations, or can be downloaded atwww.townhallohio.org.
