The Farmers Feed Our Needs cabbage harvest was named the best PR Campaign

Ohio Farm Bureau honored for PR Excellence

Each year, state Farm Bureau staff members submit their organizations’ news stories, publications, photos, advertising campaigns, Web sites and other communications projects for national recognition at the AFBF conference. This year, 34 states submitted 289 entries, with OFBF competing in categories for states with more than 70,000 Farm Bureau members. AFBF gave awards for best audio; promotion, public relations and media relations; video; Internet; writing; publications; and photography and graphics. Awards were for content produced between March 2008 and March 2009.

“These individuals embody public relations innovation and excellence. They are accomplished public relations professionals who serve their state Farm Bureaus with distinction,” said Don Lipton, AFBF director of public relations. “They creatively amplify the continuing efforts of farmers and ranchers to tell the true story of agriculture.”

Ohio Farm Bureau took first-place in the following categories:

  • Best Editorial or Commentary: NAFTA/Up Front (Our Ohio magazine Executive VP editorial, May/June 2008)
  • Best Series of Editorials or Commentaries: Our Ohio magazine’s Up Front

Ohio Farm Bureau received honorable mention in the following categories

  • Best Feature Story: “Family Tree” – Our Ohio magazine (Sept/Oct 2008)
  • Best News or Feature Series: “To Size It Up” – A look at large and small Ohio livestock farms – Sept/Oct 2008 Buckeye Farm News
  • Best Leader Newsletter: ACTIONeer – monthly county Farm Bureau leader letter
  • Best Graphic Design: Farmers Feed Our Needs Logo
