Learn winning campaign techniques at September seminar

“We partner with several statewide business organizations to offer this as an opportunity to learn the basics of running a winning campaign and getting exposed to opportunities and resources available when running for public office,” said Doug Foxx, OFBF’s director of political and legislative education.

The biennial and bipartisan Campaign Management Seminar is the result of a partnership of several statewide business organizations including Ohio Farm Bureau Federation, Nationwide Insurance, Ohio Association of Realtors, Ohio Chamber of Commerce, Ohio Corn Growers Association and Ohio Wheat Growers Association, Ohio Insurance Institute, Ohio Manufacturer’s Association, The Ohio Society of CPAs and Ohio Soybean Association.

The seminar is open to members and employees of the sponsor organizations who are interested in running for public office at all levels – local, state and national. Each sponsoring organization will also share what they can do for those running for office.

Seminar attendees will have a unique opportunity to go through an aggressive mock video interview with a veteran reporter. They will then be able to take the tape with them to review and find ways to improve their interview skills.

According to Foxx, the Campaign Management Seminar was developed by American Farm Bureau in 1996 with the help of professional political consultants and staff of both political parties. AFBF Senior Director of Policy Implementation Linda Johnson will moderate this year’s seminar.

The seminar will be held at Ohio Farm Bureau’s Columbus office. Registration is limited to 30 people, and the fee of $150 will cover materials and meals, but does not include overnight accommodations. The deadline to register is Aug. 21.
