COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) – Four Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) members will receive Bob Evans grocery products for a year and more after having been named winners of a recipe contest hosted by Ohio’s largest general farming organization and the Ohio-based restaurant chain.
Susan Spang of Maumee won the Breakfast category with her Maple Corn Cakes recipe. Carol Polter of Fremont won the Budget Friendly category for her German Fest Hobo Dinners. In the Summer Grilling category, Lynne Genter of Columbus won for her Smoked Sausage Pizza recipe. Renee Schaaf of Wooster’s Hearty Savory Sage Sausage & Vegetable “Stoup” won in the Slow Cooker category.
In addition to winning Bob Evans grocery products for a year, Spang, Polter, Genter and Schaaf will be featured in Our Ohio magazine along with their recipe, and will spend “A Day with the Chefs” at Bob Evans to pick and make recipes. The grand prize packages have an approximate retail value of $1,230 each.
The contest required Ohio Farm Bureau members to concoct original recipes featuring at least one Bob Evans product and one locally grown product from the OurOhio.org “Buying Local Directory.” Entries were judged by chefs at Bob Evans and local farmer Kerry Sullivan, of Jacquemin Farms in Plain City. The winning announcement was made Sunday, Aug. 9 at the Ohio State Fair. The winning recipes are posted online at www.OurOhio.org.
