$2,500 reward presented in Harrison County

A Scio resident was recently awarded $2,500 for information provided leading to the arrest of four men who were convicted of breaking and entering and robbery on the property of an Ohio Farm Bureau member. The resident was able to provide names of two individuals involved with the crime where fishing poles and a safe containing $2,500 were stolen from the Scio Feed store. Also provided was a list of items purchased with the stolen money. Ohio Farm Bureau’s $2,500 property protection program has helped deter crimes on members’ property for more than 20 years.

Putnam tour feeds needs

Fifty Putnam County Farm Bureau members (pictured below) recently took part in the first ever Putnam County Farm Bureau farm tour. As

part of OFBF’s Farmers Feed Our Needs project, the tour highlighted various aspects of agriculture. The tour included a stop at the POET ethanol plant in Leipsic, the Otto hog farm in Leipsic, where participants took part in a discussion about the potential Ohio Livestock Care Standards Board and animal agriculture, Hillside Winery in Gilboa and Suters produce farm in Pandora. Organization Director Jennifer Smith said she was impressed to see so many people come together and learn more about the diversity of agriculture in the county and that discussions are already underway for next year’s tour.

Morgan County summer reading fun with Farm Bureau

Morgan County Farm Bureau brought the positive words of agriculture to youth this summer by sponsoring the summer reading program at the Kate Love Simpson Library. The county Farm Bureau provided a number of agricultural-related activities for children while also bringing in live animals for the children to pet and learn about. Organization Director Kari Burkey said 80 children were in attendance. Children made bean art, planted seeds in a glove to watch them sprout and tried their hand at milking a model cow.
