Haley a Finalist in Ohio Farm Bureau Discussion Meet

COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) – Pam Haley of West Salem has been named a finalist in Ohio Farm Bureau Federation’s (OFBF) 2009 Discussion Meet. The annual contest tests young professionals’ subject knowledge, problem solving abilities and personal and small group communication skills.

Haley will participate in the finals of the competition during OFBF’s annual meeting held Dec. 2 to 4 in Cincinnati, discussing the following topics:

• What can be done to encourage young people to get involved in the agricultural industry?

• How can we continue to bridge the gap between farmers and lawmakers in order to have an influence in the changing political environment?

Haley is an eleven-year member of the Wayne County Farm Bureau and is active in membership recruitment. She lives with her husband Mike on a grain and Simmental cattle farm. Haley has a bachelor’s degree in agribusiness and applied economics from Ohio State University. She works as a crop insurance adjuster and is secretary/treasurer of the Ohio Simmental Association.

The winner of the contest will receive an expense-paid trip to the American Farm Bureau Federation annual meeting in Seattle in January to represent Ohio in the national contest. The winner will also receive $1,000 courtesy of Nationwide Insurance, $500 courtesy of Dodge Trucks and a chime clock from Ohio Farm Bureau.
