COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) – Matthew and Kristin Reese of Baltimore have been named finalists for Ohio Farm Bureau Federation’s (OFBF) Excellence in Agriculture Award, which recognizes successful people age 35 or younger who are involved in farming but whose primary occupations are not farming or owning an agricultural business.
The award is based on their involvement in agriculture and participation in Farm Bureau and other community organizations. The winner will be named during OFBF’s annual meeting Dec. 2 to 4 in Cincinnati.
Matt is a writer, editor, and photographer for Ohio’s Country Journal and covers all aspects of Ohio agriculture. He has authored two children’s books to promote youth safety on farms. Kristin is a real estate agent with HER Realtors and enjoys helping farmers buy and sell land. The Reeses are active on the family’s Christmas tree farm and help raise and show a flock of 50 registered Dorset sheep. They also raise chickens and sell the meat and eggs locally. The Reeses have two children.
The winner will receive an expense paid trip to the American Farm Bureau annual meeting in Seattle in January to represent Ohio in the national competition. The state winner will also receive a $1,000 technology package from OFBF, a John Deere Gator sponsored by Farm Credit Services of Mid America and $500 cash from Dodge Trucks. All state finalists also receive commemorative chime clocks from OFBF.
