Even if your garden has been put to bed for the year, there’s still much you can do with local foods.
“What to do in Winter” will be held Oct. 23, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Lake Metroparks Farmpark in Kirtland. Attendees can expect to gain valuable information and practical skills in dairy foods and meat. Speakers for the day will be food author and Our Ohio contributor Marilou Suszko and Tom Nagel, an experienced butcher from Cleveland’s West Side Market.
“Marilou and Tom are great resources when it comes to Ohio foods,” said Cara Lawson, promotion specialist for Ohio Farm Bureau and one of the coordinators for the event. “We selected the sessions to remind everyone that local foods can be enjoyed and prepared year-round.”
Cost to participate is $15 for Farm Bureau members and $30 for nonmembers, and registration includes both sessions and materials. Registration deadline is Oct. 20. For additional information or to register, call 614-246-8241 or visit the Grow and Know event page at OurOhio.org.
The vision of the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation is to create a partnership between farmers and consumers. In addition to farmers, members include gardeners, food and wine enthusiasts, animal owners, and anyone who enjoys rural Ohio.
