Greg and Rose Hartschuh

Year in Review: Telling our story

Buckeye Farm News

Crawford County’s Greg and Rose Hartschuh became the faces of the new “I am Farm Bureau” campaign this year aimed at dispelling myths of the organization being “big agriculture,” and providing a way for Farm Bureau members to stand up, speak out, correct information and tell the stories of who they really are.

“I am Farm Bureau” could be seen on pins, hats and T-shirts worn by members at local and state Farm Bureau events throughout the year, and it served as the theme for its annual meeting and leadership conference.

The Hartschuhs won an online “I am Farm Bureau” contest featuring member narratives and photos showcasing the diversity and grassroots nature of Farm Bureau. The grain and dairy farming couple are the fourth generation to work on the farm. Their entry detailed how they make time for each other while managing the farm.

Farm Bureau members range from gardeners and food and wine enthusiasts, to nature lovers and conservationists, fruit and vegetable growers to livestock and grain producers, and everything in between.
