The Deer Creek Chapter of Pheasants Forever will be sponsoring a Quail Management Workshop on Tuesday March 1, 2011 at 5 PM. The workshop will be held at the Ross County Service Center in conference rooms B & D located at 475 Western Avenue, Chillicothe, OH. This workshop is also in partnership with Ohio Division of Wildlife, Ohio State University, US Fish and Wildlife Service, and US Dept. of Agriculture.
The purpose of holding this workshop is to provide an educational event for the public to learn more about Ohio’s declining bobwhite quail population and what is happening with quail management in your area. A special emphasis will be placed on maximizing non-tillable and low-producing agricultural areas for Bobwhite Quail while maintaining or increasing farm profitability.
Speakers from the Ohio Division of Wildlife; Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever; and the Ohio State University will present topics such quail biology and habitat, Ohio quail relocation program, quail research in Ohio, funding resources for habitat restoration, and more. The workshop will consist of evening presentations and question and answer sessions. This is a free event with educational materials, cookies and drinks provided.
