The Champaign County Farm Bureau would like to invite the public to attend our Uniquely Champaign series. Uniquely Champaign is a six-part series where participants will find all Champaign County has to offer from learning to garden to where they can buy locally grown food.
Our series kicks off on May 14 for Gardening 101 at Burton’s Lawn & Landscape in Woodstock for from 9-11 a.m. During this series participants will learn general gardening and landscape tips, from soil preparation to what to plant and when.
The second in the series Needles, Bobbins and Buttons will take place June 11 from 9-11 a.m. at the Champaign Community Center. Participants have the choice to learn the basics of knitting or sewing, and should leave with a basic knowledge to get them started on making homemade items.
Serving Up Champaign will be the third part in the series July 9 from 9-11 a.m. at Freshwater Farms in Urbana, where we will have a local chef demonstrate cooking with locally grown fish and produce from Michael Farms and Champaign Berry Farm. Participants will also learn where they can buy locally grown food.
In the fall we will finish up the last three parts of the series with Beer and Wine Tasting Sept. 10 at the Mad River Farm Market, Holiday Decorating on Oct. 8 at Sweet Annie’s, and finishing up with Sweet Treats, Sweet Eats Nov. 12 for holiday candy making.
The series cost is $5 for Farm Bureau members and $10 for non-Farm Bureau members per series. If you choose to do all six of the series it is $25 for Farm Bureau members and $50 for non-Farm Bureau members. For more information or to RSVP for the series please call the Champaign County Farm Bureau office at 937-652-2135 at least one week prior to the event.
