For Immediate Release

May 23, 2012

COLUMBUS, Ohio (OFBF) – Farm bloggers of all experience levels are invited to a blogging workshop sponsored by the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF). The workshop will feature panels, breakouts sessions and advice from some of the most influential agricultural bloggers in Ohio and from across the nation.

The workshop is June 22 in Columbus from 9 am to 4 pm. It is free and open to Farm Bureau members only. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. Registration is due by June 15. Contact Wanda Campbell at (614) 246-8271 or [email protected].

The workshop will address why people blog, compare various blogging platforms/sites, discuss how to become more engaged in “blogger culture” and examine how to discuss food and agriculture through blogging. Breakout sessions will revolve around the various blogging experience and skill levels of attendees and help them improve their blogging skills.

A special lunchtime web session will feature the observations, studies and stories of the three farmers behind the thought-challenging “Just Farmers” blog, which focuses on “conversations as a way to collectively harness the power of individual people when brought together through community.”

Featured bloggers who will present are Lindsay Bowman, Jeans Boots Blog; Jeff Fowle, Common Sense Agriculture Blog; Mike Haley, Haley Farms Blog; Brenda Hastings, The Dairy Mom Blog, Jennifer Keller, Plowing Through Life Blog; Jennifer Kiko, Farmgirl Follies Blog; and Ray Prock, RayLin Dairy Blog.

“There is a lot to be gained by bringing together and empowering the Ohio farm blogging community,” said Dan Toland, Ohio Farm Bureau director of digital strategy. “Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from among the best out there in our niche. The more we can share and learn from one another about successful online community engagement, the better we can collectively become at communicating with purpose and enhancing valuable connections with others.”
