Participants at the Trash Garden workshop, held at the County Fairgrounds, completed a mini-garden using re-purposed drink cups and water bottles after getting tips on what and how to plant from OSU Extension Cuyahoga Master Gardeners Gail Holzman and Ellen Comeau. It was evident from the display of items on hand, that many things we just toss in the trash can be recylced or re-purposed; the only holding you back is your imagination. The workshop, sponsored by the Cuyahoga Farm Bureau, the Master Gardeners and the Cuyahoga Solid Waste District, was held to introduce a new entry catagory at the Cuyahoga County Fair this year called Trash Gardening. Fair entries will be judged and awarded for most trashy, most beautiful and most creative. Contact the County Fairgrounds office for a copy of the county fair premium book for details on all the catagories you can enter at the county fair – call (440) 243-0090.
