We have all heard about the oil and gas drilling that has taken place in Ohio in the past few years. Because of a new drilling process called fracking, oil and gas reserves that were not profitable to drill using traditional methods have now become very profitable. Most of the new wells that have been drilled are in northern Ohio, but there is interest in leases across most of the state. There have been sites identified in southwest and south central Ohio. Fam Bureau members have requested an opportunity to learn more about oil and gas leasing.
Butler County Farm Bureau will host a meeting for those interested on Monday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. at the Princeton Rd. Campus, 1802 Princeton Rd., Hamilton. (OSU, FSA, BSWCD Building)
The program highlights details a landowner should consider in negotiating a new lease agreement. Working with land agents, project developers, legal council, land owner associations and regulatory personnel are highlighted.
Information on Ohio geology, drilling technology, pool provisions as well as establishing environmental baselines to address hydraulic fracturing issues are presented by Dale Arnold, Director of Energy Programs for Ohio Farm Bureau.
