Dan Glasener  |  740-260-6994  |  Cambridge and Columbus

Tell us about the place where you live: After many years of having homes in Cambridge and Columbus, my wife and I relocated a little over a year ago to the historic Columbus neighborhood of German Village, just south of downtown.

What values do the people in your community share? Like everyone, we always enjoyed visiting the village, enjoying the architecture, fine restaurants and parks. As we learned more about the community and the people who make it up, we knew that we would like to have these folks as neighbors. There is tremendous community pride (the village is the largest privately funded historic district in the country). But besides promoting architectural preservation and beautiful gardens, we really noticed how responsibly the community approached the real and difficult challenges that every community faces.

How important is community involvement to your agency? I think “neighborhood insurance agency” and “community involvement” belong in the same sentence. As an agency owner I have staffed with individuals who share a commitment to community, such as coaching, volunteering and mentoring. In particular we look for opportunities to invest time and resources in youth activities, partnering with the schools and youth organizations, like 4-H and FFA.

How do you continually provide the On Your Side® experience to customers? It starts with the culture our agency has embraced of really learning about our customer. We take the time to understand each individual’s/family’s unique needs and concerns. We do this upfront and as an ongoing commitment. After that we look for opportunities to be “proactive” and “stay connected” with their needs and the many changes, such as reviewing new discounts, discussing product enhancements and helping customers through the claims process. We stay connected. Every business card we give out has a personal cell number listed.

Why do you work for Nationwide? I grew up involved with the Ohio Farm Bureau youth program and learned about co-ops and how a mutual company existed to serve its members. That commitment from Nationwide and the ability to deliver on the “On Your Side” promise has never been stronger.

What is the most rewarding part about what you do? Providing employment opportunities and helping people in my organization develop in their careers. By building a team of truly dedicated professionals I know we can “…do more together than we can as one.”

What is your favorite restaurant? If there is a topic I like more than talking insurance, you found it! The best place to eat…is simply wherever (whenever) my wife and I can enjoy eating and relaxing together. That may sound simple, but like most busy households it can be a challenge. We have a beautiful flower garden and we love to dine outside, usually grilling some beef or pork from the Guernsey County Junior Fair sale. As for some specific destinations, how about Barcelona in German Village, home cooking at Mr. Lee’s in Cambridge and Bob Evans anytime!

What is your favorite Ohio food? Definitely BBQ pork chops and sweet corn with friends and family!

In addition to Nationwide policy discounts, why should your customers join Farm Bureau? We all need a safe and affordable food supply. Farm Bureau is the one grassroots organization that is dedicated to that end.

Ohio Farm Bureau is a sponsor of Nationwide and endorses Nationwide policies, many of which are discounted for members of Ohio Farm Bureau. Please ask a nearby agent for more details, or the Nationwide website specifically for Farm Bureau members.
