Movie Night on the Farm attendees watching "Hoodwinked" after an evening full of fun on the farm.

Auglaize County Farm Bureau’s Movie Night on the Farm

What anticipation for the start of Auglaize County Farm Bureau’s first Movie Night on the Farm! As we were waiting on our guests to arrive, I thought about how we hoped that we would have a lot of people to share the event with and how hard our host family, the Brackmans, the county board, community council members and various volunteers had worked. All that hard work paid off to make a great event for our Auglaize County Farm Bureau members and the community.

Guests arrived at the start of the evening to stake out a spot on the lawn for the big show. Then they took part in our old time kids games, a bouncy house, a penny hunt, hayrides, garden and backyard poultry area, an agriculture equipment display which included new and old style machinery and of course food. At about 9:20 p.m. our movie began and our guests settled in for popcorn and a giant screen showing of “Hoodwinked” on the side of the Brackman family’s barn.

At the end of the evening, I couldn’t help but notice what a great mix of people we had at the event. We had older folks, lots of young families and many in between. We had many new faces in group of more than 125 people that attended, with lots of smiles. We were able to talk about what Farm Bureau does and what agriculture is doing for all of us. All of these things were what the board had in mind when the board members planned the event.

As we packed up to go home, we talked about where we could hold Movie Night number two, what we would change and how we would grow the event for the next year. That my friends is a successful evening for the county board and volunteers who made the Auglaize County Farm Bureau’s Movie Night on the Farm possible!
